Together, then, truth observed is the goal or purpose of pastoral preaching. In order to be faithful to this task, therefore, the pastoral preacher must know not only the truth but how to communicate it effectively. Again, he must learn not only how truth should affect life but how to help his listeners knead that truth into life—individually and corporately lived.
