Well said! I just started teaching at Bob Jones University and one of the reasons I came here was the philosophy of teaching here, which mirrors what you've said above. I think this proverb would apply to the teaching situation: "The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil." (Pro 15:28) Not just what to answer, but how to do so.

I met you years ago at a conference in Sarasota Florida, where you delivered a message on forgiveness. I bought your Christian Counselor’s New Testament, and a few of your commentaries there. After reading every book you wrote on Christian Counseling, plus Shepherding God’s Flock and Church Discipline. I left that and other organizations that weren’t completely biblical and put my trust and confidence in the Holy Spirit and Scripture. As a result, I’ve helped a lot of people over the years, not to mention had my own life and walk with the Lord enriched in so many ways.
Bless you, and thank you Jay (Dr. Adams), I pray that the Lord raises you up, and makes you completely healthy again.

The context of Hebrews 6:1 is about how we need to move beyond rehearsing the basics of the gospel to applying the basics to the whole of Scripture and seeing Christ everywhere, including in Melchizadek. The immature are those who need to rebuild the basics and are therefore incapable of applying them hermeneutically to the whole Bible and to all of life.

I think I have been duped by Dr. Welch. I have read several of his books thinking he was a truly biblical counselor. I now will have to re-read his books and view them with a more biblical scrutiny. I would like to thank Dr. Abercrombie for his exposure of Dr. Welch's misleading deceptions. I joined the BCI due to this article. I want to know purely God's Truth. Thank you for the article.
