In the beginning (six years ago) the Institute for Nouthetic Studies was housed in a spare bedroom of the Arms home in Greenville, SC. As the Institute grew it expanded to fill another bedroom, most of the basement, and eventually every wall in the house. We have been praying for years that God would provide us with the office space we needed if we were to continue growing. Several times we had hoped we had found a place but one thing or another prevented us from moving until last summer. While there was an abundance of office space for rent in the Greenville area we were frustrated that no one was willing to move off of the high prices they were asking, even if it meant vacant offices!

Then, about two years ago, the Lord graciously led us to our new home. First, however, some history is in order. Those of you who travel in fundamentalist circles will probably recognize the name of Oliver B Greene. From the 1950s through his death in 1976 Greene was a well known evangelist headquartered here in Greenville. He established a radio program known as The Gospel Hour which was heard “from coast to coast.” He was a prolific author who wrote a number of commentaries which are still in print today. In fact, 30 years after his death, The Gospel Hour is still heard on over 100 stations across the country airing Greene’s recorded messages.

Greene’s ministry was located just blocks from Bob Jones University on a large piece of property that housed printing presses, warehouses, and recording studios. Greene lived on the property and maintained a beautiful garden surrounding his home. Upon his death Greene’s wife and one of his two sons maintained the ministry until Mrs. Greene’s death in 2001. This past summer Greene’s sons sold the property to a local real estate developer who purchased it as an investment for future development. For now, however, he needed tenants to occupy the space . . . and that is where we came in. We made contact with the developer and he offered to rent us Greene’s former offices at a bargain rate. |

It is a wonderful office. From the pictures you can see there are acres of bookshelves. Several thousand volumes that had spent the previous five years living in boxes in the basement now can breathe and lend the impression that the occupant of the office is a learned man. In addition to the office space we have a large workroom where we can edit video, keep files, and do our shipping and receiving. There is also a third room into which we can grow that contains a full bath and shower as well as a fully functioning sauna! While we share the property with other tennants we have enough space to handle growth for years to come. |

I hope you can sense our excitement as you read this. God has provided a facility that is more than we ever imagined we would find. Still, it is an added expense above what we had while in our home.
